About Us

Who Are We?
The Dorset eCentre has created an Internet Radio Station – The Dorset Drum and would like to hear from people who are interested in contributing to the project through their stories, knowledge, music or anything else that they would like to share. Contributions from local business, clubs, community groups, and individuals are welcome.

What Are We?
An Internet Radio Station is a series of Podcasts that are available online at anytime – so if you hear a show that has information that you might want to hear again, the show is available all the time, or people can visit the website and save files on to a computer and listen to them when ever they want. This method allows people to share knowledge, information and skills that build into a knowledge bank for people everywhere.

Where Are We?
Dorset is situated in North Eastern Tasmania, Australia. The Municipality of Dorset was proclaimed on 2 April 1993 following an amalgamation of the former Municipalities of Ringarooma and Scottsdale. The municipal boundary extends to include Musselroe Bay to the east and Nabowla, Golconda and Wyena to the west.

Residents of Dorset enjoy a superb natural environment with clean air and beautiful scenery, ranging from coastal beaches to patchwork farmlands and temperate rain forests on the surrounding hills and mountains.

The town of Scottsdale (population 1922) is the main service centre for the Municipality. Local services are also provided by the townships of Branxholm, Bridport (population 1234), Derby, Gladstone, Herrick, Legerwood, Musselroe Bay, Nabowla, Pioneer, Ringarooma, Tomahawk and Winnaleah.

We would like to see the radio station develop as a resource for the Dorset community and ask if you have ever thought you would like to be a DJ, want to find out more about how it all works etc, or if you have any ideas on what you would like to hear on the station please phone 0363 524054, or drop into your local Online Access Centre. You can find the links to these on the right hand side of this site.
